REGENERATE OLD ORDER REQUISITIONS USING TRACK EVENT IN SYNGO® WORKFLOW
By Charisse Shelton
Have you discovered missing order requisitions when trying to dictate because they have been
archived or purged?
Commonly, users need an old order requisition reprinted, but it is no longer in patient
tracking for easy access. For example, a radiologist receives old films in mammography and he/she
needs to dictate an addendum. Without a barcode from the original order requisition, the
radiologist would need to manually gather the correct patient MRN, as well as order/accession
number and enter the information into the dictation system.
The good news is there is a quick way to simplify the workflow for the radiologist. Create a
modified Order Requisition document in DOC and set it up in UEM. The Rad Tech or designee will be
able to go into Track Event, choose the original exam and regenerate the required information for
the radiologist.
Using Track Event in Patient Tracking resolves the issue of regenerating and reprinting a new
Order Requisition. Usually, the visit_activity and visit_activity_info tables are used for
tracking, which works well for this purpose. These tables contain all pertinent info needed to
locate an exam for dictation.
Another use for facilities that still use film is to create a flash label document. It allows
users to generate and print a new label to be used to correct mistakes in patient information on
the film.
Using Track Event to regenerate documents is a quick and easy way to streamline your workflow,
as opposed to taking valuable time to search for an old order requisition. It can also eliminate
potential errors when entering MRN and/or Accession Numbers for dictation.
The lesson learned from this idea was to always ask if there is a better way, because there
often is, but it takes a little bit of creative thinking and a little effort to solve problems
and improve workflow.
